Who doesn’t want a killer smile? After all it adds to your charm. However, for a great smile, you need to have bright, shining white teeth.

As we grow old, our teeth start becoming dull with time and lose their shine. Moreover, they get stained because of the food items like coffee, wine, tea etc, making them look yellow and dull. That is the reason why people have started relying a lot on teeth whitening remedies. Not only does our outer surface get stained but in many cases, people started getting stained teeth even beneath the upper surface. This can be caused due to some small cracks or because of antibiotics which absorb the stains.

Latest Teeth Whitening Treatments

In such cases, people usually rely on the following advanced methods of teeth whitening:

  • Bleaching

One of the most widely advised treatment for teeth whitening is bleaching. You need to consult a dentist before deciding if it is the suitable option for you.

Before applying the bleaching mixture to your teeth, the soft and sensitive gums are shielded by applying a gel on them or covering them with a rubber shield. Then the teeth are exposed to bleach by using a tray which takes the form of gum shell.

This mixture is composed usually of carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide as main acting ingredients. Once these ingredients have broken down, oxygen is absorbed in your teeth enamel, giving your teeth a brighter look. This treatment of teeth whitening usually takes a time period of three to four weeks.

For teeth whitening through bleaching method, at least three visits to dentist are required. The dentist would create a mouth guard and take impression of it. Once he has started your treatment, you should continue it at home and keep on applying the bleaching mixture for 4 weeks for a time period of 30 minutes at least.

The quality teeth whitening mixtures can even be left on your teeth for several hours. You can apply them even before you go to sleep. They yield results in as short time period as one week.

  • Laser

Also sometimes called the ‘power whitening’ procedure, the laser whitening is a bit expensive. Even then, majority of people, especially the high-profile people rely on it as an effective teeth whitening treatment.

The process involves the use of a rubber dam to protect the gums, it is followed by painting of whitening product on your teeth and then a laser would be used to stimulate the chemicals in that product. The chemical reaction between the chemicals is speeded up through laser light, thus getting quicker results.

According to most dental experts, the result is long-lasting and can make your teeth up to six shades lighter.

However, laser treatment cannot be done with everyone. Dentists make sure before doing this teeth whitening treatment that your teeth would be able to endure it. The whole procedure takes an hour on average.

It is said by the experts that the results of laser teeth whitening can last as long as three years depending on your eating habits and a few other things. E.g. dentists advise to quit or reduce smoking and not to use too much of those food items which leave stains on your teeth. Your teeth may seem prone to cold food items after the treatment, but this would not last long. The problem would vanish within a few days.

These are the two most widely used teeth whitening treatments, however they are expensive. But stay assured that they do yield perfect results when it comes to giving you a perfect smile.
